The cited report in this news item, entitled “The Puppet Masters: How the Corrupt Use Legal Structures to Hide Stolen Assets and What to Do About It”, finds that “most large-scale corruption cases involve using legal entities to conceal ownership and control of corrupt proceeds, and policymakers should take steps to improve transparency to reduce opportunities for wrongdoing". A predecessor StAR report released in 2007 referred to the Philippine experience (recovery of ill-gotten wealth under the Marcos regime) as a case study.
